ATMO-RHENA PLUS project
Cross-border protection of the atmosphere with an Air-Climate-Energy observatory and decision support for initiatives in the Upper Rhine..
The purpose of ATMO RHENA PLUS is to raise awareness among Upper Rhine policy makers to take collective action against air pollution and climate change by reducing pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions in their territories, whether cross-border or not, by providing them with a harmonised cross-border database of the Air-Climate-Energy inventory of their territories, as well as a decision support tool.
Coordinated by ATMO Grand Est, the project unites a dozen stakeholders from Baden-Württemberg, Grand Est and north-west Switzerland.
To this project, Grand Est Développement will be showcasing the solutions put forward by regional providers of solutions and sharing expertise on the innovation programmes between companies and local authorities.
Project goals
Overall goal
Support political and industrial decision makers in implementing ambitious and coherent public policies with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution in the Upper Rhine region.
Specific goals
AN OBSERVATORY
- Pool experience to address the strategic challenges: hydrogen, ultrafine particles, pesticides, etc.
- Provide quantified and harmonised Air-Climate-Energy indicators to support transitions: pollutant and GHG emissions, energy consumption and production.
DECISION SUPPORT
- Guide Air-Climate-Energy public policies in the Upper Rhine to drive action,
- Provide territory-based and multi-disciplinary methods to give meaning to initiatives: dashboards, action plans, impact assessments, etc.
